Msimango Gives Intricacies On Working With Broos

After the unforgettable experience of receiving his first Bafana Bafana call-up, Given Msimango shared his thoughts on working with coach Hugo Broos for the first time.
Msimango highlighted respect as the most important quality he observed in the Belgian coach, especially as a new member of the squad. “I’ve seen how the coach is with the players, how he treats them with respect, of course it’s very important when someone treats you with respect, you reciprocate that respect,” said Msimango.
The Kaizer Chiefs defender described Broos’s tactical simplicity as what sets him apart from other managers he’s worked with. “I think he is different to a lot of coaches I have worked with; we don’t spend a lot of time in the analysis room, and I think he keeps the team in a more freedom type of space,” described the former TS Galaxy captain.
Msimango further elaborated on Broos‘s coaching philosophy: “We have more freedom on the pitch, but obviously, from a tactical perspective, he has his demands, and they are clear for everyone to know.”
Following widespread social media criticism directed at teammate Percy Tau after a poor performance in Nigeria on Friday, there’s been much discussion about the Al Ahly winger’s place in the Bafana team.
As a Chiefs player, Msimango explained how he deals with the pressure of criticism from fans on social media. “I respect their opinions,” Msimango said. “I try to improve myself and control what I can control, which is what I can do as Given Msimango.”
Msimango was called in to replace Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana, who had suffered an injury. During these FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Bafana Bafana drew with Nigeria 1-1 and beat Zimbabwe 3-1 to move second in the Group C with seven points. Rwanda are on level on points with Bafana Bafana but the former are on top of the standings due to head-to-head rule.
