Nabi Reacts On Chiefs’ New Signings

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says new players Thabo Cele, Tashreeq Morris, and Glody Lilepo need time to adapt to the club, and unfortunately, they haven’t had much time as games have been coming thick and fast.

Amakhosi signed this trio during the January transfer window, and Cele alongside Lillepo made their debuts on Saturday against Orlando Pirates.

On the other side, Morris was suspended after he was sent off from his previous club SuperSport United.

However, Nabi threw them all against AmaZulu in a 2-2 draw at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

“About the signings, we felt that they were good because both Morris and Lillepo were involved in the two goals we scored,” Nabi said.

“About Thabo Cele, I believe that he is a good player and It’s only that they’ve done only two or four training sessions. As much as they get more training sessions we’ll find how they play so that they will understand their partners by the brightness.

“We believe that with more time when you have games on the weekend, we are going to have more time to work with them during the week so that they can understand the players.

“But we believe that they are good signings and Morris I think was a threat in the defense of the opponent but we were just unfortunate not to score more goals and get three points.”

Morris claimed the first goal, but the last touch appeared to have come from Usuthu captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele. For Chiefs’ second goal, Lilepo brought back the recycled ball and Richard Ofori knocked it in his net.

Additionally, the former Espérance Sportive de Tunis coach was thrilled to see how Amakhosi’s fans welcomed the trio. “I would like to thank our fans how they welcomed our new signings,” Nabi said.

“We would also ask them to support every one of our players because we believe that team is on the right action.”

Amakhosi will now travel to Cape Town in their next league game as they will be facing Stellenbosch at Athlone Stadium on Friday (19:30). These two sides have already faced each other in the first round this year where Amakhosi won 2-1 at home.
