On Fire Pirates Beat Chippa To Reach Nedbank Cup Final

Orlando Pirates booked their place in the Nedbank Cup final with a convincing 3-1 victory over Chippa United in a thrilling encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The match, delayed by 15 minutes, kicked off with a bang. Kabelo Dlamini stunned the crowd with a beautifully curled free-kick that beat Chippa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in the fifth minute. Pirates doubled their lead just before halftime through Dlamini again, who capitalized on a quick throw-in to slot home from close range.
Chippa captain Justice Chabalala complaint that Patrick Maswanganyi was offside from the build-up but you can’t be offside from the throw-in, making a mockery of himself at the highest level against his former club.
The Chilli Boys displayed a fight in the second half, pulling one back through Elmo Kambindu’s header in the 63rd minute. However, Pirates responded quickly with Thapelo Xoki restoring their two-goal advantage after a scramble in the box. Chippa’s hopes were dashed further when Bievenu Eva Nga received his marching orders for a second yellow card.
This victory sets the stage for a mouthwatering final as Pirates aim to defend their Nedbank Cup crown. They await the winner of the other semi-final clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch, which takes place at Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday. The Nedbank Cup final will be played on 1 June at Mbombela Stadium.
