Ouaddou Praises In-Form Moremi But Demands Even More

Orlando Pirates coach Abdelsam Ouaddou says winger Tshepang Moremi fully deserves his current good run of form — but insists there is still more to come from the talented attacker.

Moremi, who joined Pirates from AmaZulu during the off-season, continued his impressive spell by scoring a stunning goal in the club’s 2–1 victory over Magesi at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday, sending the Buccaneers into the Carling Knockout semi-finals. Evidence Makgopa added the second to secure the win.

The 25-year-old fired home a powerful strike from the edge of the box early in the second half — his seventh goal in Pirates colours in 14 matches across all competitions.

Moremi also played a starring role last month when he scored a brace as Pirates beat Stellenbosch FC to lift the MTN8 title at Mbombela Stadium.

Pirates will be hoping for more of the same from their in-form winger when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in a blockbuster Betway Premiership clash at Loftus Stadium on Saturday.

“It was a fantastic performance,” said Ouaddou.

“I’ve always said that people who work hard and believe in themselves are eventually rewarded. This guy has been working tirelessly since the beginning, even though it wasn’t easy.

“You’ve seen his early days in the team — he kept believing in his qualities. The technical staff has supported him, helping him gain confidence and guiding him to keep improving.

“But the work is far from finished. We’ll continue pushing him to become even better every day.

“What he showed again on Tuesday — that first goal — was fantastic. I even went to celebrate with him.”

Moremi’s form has also earned him recognition at international level. He made his Bafana Bafana debut in a friendly against Tanzania in June, before featuring again in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe at Moses Mabhida Stadium last month.

He has now been included in Hugo Broos’ preliminary Bafana Bafana squad, announced on Tuesday, for next month’s friendly against Zambia.
