Ouaddou Vows Pirates Will Fight Until The Bitter End
Orlando Pirates coach Abdelsam Ouaddou has vowed that his side will fight until the end of the season after reclaiming top spot in the Betway Premiership with a victory over Richards Bay at Orlando Amstel Arena on Wednesday night.
A late and controversial penalty from Evidence Makgopa sealed a 2-0 win for Pirates, sending the Soweto giants back to the summit of the league standings.
Pirates had slipped to second place on Tuesday after Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the top by beating Orbit College. However, the Buccaneers knew that a two-goal victory in Soweto would be enough to reclaim the lead.
The result sees Pirates level on 47 points with Sundowns after 20 matches played, intensifying the race for the league title.
When asked whether he believes Pirates can go on to win the championship — which would be their first league title since the 2011/12 season — Ouaddou responded with confidence.
“Everybody is dreaming of being champions,” Ouaddou told SuperSport.
“We are fighting and we want to be champions, of course. The passion is there, and we are going to fight until the last minute.
“I can promise you that we will give everything on the pitch and believe until the very last second.”
