PSL Postpones Matches Of Pirates And Gallants Ahead Of The Final

The PSL has postponed the league matches of Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants, which were scheduled for 2 and 3 December, to ensure both teams are fresh and fully focused ahead of the Carling Knockout Cup final next month.
Pirates and Gallants will meet in the Carling Knockout Cup final at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 6 December, in a match that has already been declared a sell-out.
Pirates will first be in action on Saturday when they visit Durban City at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
A win or even a draw will see them climb to the top of the Betway Premiership, overtaking Mamelodi Sundowns.
A day later, Gallants will host Magesi at Dr Molemela Stadium.
These will be the final league fixtures for both Pirates and Gallants this year, as they have been excused from midweek action before the final.
Pirates were scheduled to host Richards Bay at Orlando Stadium on 2 December, while Gallants were set to visit TS Galaxy the following day.
This publication got wind of the postponements on Friday after Richards Bay defeated AmaZulu at the Umhlathuze Sports Ground.
The Carling Knockout Cup final will be the last match on the domestic football calendar in 2025 before the season pauses for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco from 21 December to 18 January 2026.
Pirates reached the final after defeating the Natal Rich Boys 1-0 in the semifinal, while Gallants booked their spot by overcoming Golden Arrows on penalties.
The Soweto giants, who have already lifted the MTN8 trophy for the fourth consecutive season, will be aiming to win the Carling Knockout Cup for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign.
Gallants, meanwhile, will be targeting their first-ever title in the competition.
