Ramovic Signs New Deal In Algeria, Ex-Galaxy Star Impresses In Europe

Former TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic has extended his stay with Algerian powerhouse CR Belouizdad to June 2028 after putting pen to paper on a new three-year contract on Thursday.

The 46-year-old German tactician was roped in February this year, dumping Tanzanian giants Young Africans for the Algiers-based outfit, where he quickly changed the club’s fortunes with nine wins, four draws, and three defeats from the 16 matches he has overseen to date.

Belouizdad currently sits in third place in the Algerian Ligue 1, with 48 points accumulated from 27 league outings. The Chababists trail log leaders MC Alger with five points and second-placed Josef Zinnbauer coached JS Kabylie with one point.

With three games to go in the league, CRB occupies the CAF Confederations Cup spot. It remains to be seen whether Ramovic can guide Khanyisa Mayo and his teammates back to the CAF Champions League, where they crashed out in the group stages in the 2024/25 season.

Meanwhile, ex-Galaxy defender Samukele Kabini has swiftly settled in at Norwegian giants Molde FK, making an instant impact with a significant contribution on the opposite side of the field.

The 21-year-old center-back inked a three-year contract with the Eliteserien side in the January transfer window, a move the Rockets boss Tim Sukazi confirmed was a record sale for the ambitious Mpumalanga-based outfit.

Since completing his switch to Europe, Kabini has featured in eight matches across all competitions and scored one goal with two assists provided. The South African international set up Kristian Eriksen in Molde’s 3-0 win over Brann on Thursday evening.

As a result of his impressive performances abroad, the Orlando Pirates academy product, who joined Galaxy in July 2023, caught the eye of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, as he was named in the final squad set to face Tanzania and Mozambique in the June International Friendly matches.

Meanwhile, the victory saw Kabini’s side climb up to 10th place in the Norwegian top-flight division, having accumulated 11 points from nine league outings. Molde will face log leaders Viking in their next encounter on Sunday.
