Riveiro Set Sight On Beating Al Ahly

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says they want to start well at home in the Champions League this season because they want to compete for the title.

Pirates has already played their first game of the Champions League group stage this season and they won 2-1 away against the Algerian giant CR Belouizdad last week.

The Buccaneers are set to play their second game against the African champions Al Ahly on Saturday in matchday two of this competition.

Al Ahly on the other side, won 4-2 to Stade d’Abidjan in the first game.

The Spanish tactician Riveiro revealed that it is important to play very well at home since they want to compete this season in the Champions League, and with the support from the fans, everything is possible.

“We want to start well at home, we want to compete, we want to make sure that for the rest of the season, especially in this tournament when playing at Orlando, we have extra people to support us,” Riveiro said on Friday.

“It’s not the heat, it’s the people who trust us and on Saturday they must play a role because they want to see the team winning at the end of the day. So, that’s our advantage and obviously, we have passionate supporters behind us.

“Fans will have to play a game with us because we’ll go through a difficult 90 minutes and it’s important to have them because they don’t stop supporting us.”

Riveiro’s side is in second place in Group C while the Red Devils are in the summit with three points. These two sides are separated by the goal difference and the winner on Saturday will stay at the top.
