Pirates’ Clash With Al Ahly Sold Out
Orlando Pirates confirmed on Friday that tickets for their highly anticipated CAF Champions League match against Al Ahly, scheduled at Orlando Stadium for Saturday at 15:00, have been sold out.
Pirates aim to capitalize on the scorching South African heat, as Al Ahly typically plays their matches at night. Historically, Al Ahly has struggled to adapt to the high-altitude conditions in South Africa, with Mamelodi Sundowns inflicting heavy defeats on them in past daytime matches.
This will be the second group stage encounter between the two clubs. Pirates secured a 2-1 victory over CR Belouizdad in Algeria last week, while Al Ahly, the defending champions, defeated Stade Abidjan 4-2 at home.
The last time Pirates and Al Ahly faced each other in the Champions League was in 2013. Al Ahly emerged victorious, winning the second leg final 2-0 in Cairo after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Orlando Stadium.
