Robert Marawa And Polisa Launch ‘Extra Time’ Sports Show on 947

Multi-award-winning sportscaster Robert Marawa, in partnership with Heineken® and 947 presenter Bolele Polisa, is set to launch a new weekly sports platform titled Extra Time, designed to extend sports analysis beyond traditional broadcast windows and foster deeper post-match conversations.

Extra Time airs every Thursday at 7pm, immediately following Marawa Sports Worldwide (MSW) on 947, and continues the discussion into The Frequency with Bolele Polisa. The format is designed to carry forward the key talking points emerging from MSW into a more conversational broadcast environment, allowing for extended reflection, debate, and analysis.

The initiative is built around a multi-brand sports framework that segments coverage across distinct sporting codes. Klipdrift will focus on South African rugby, Amstel will lead local football and Orlando Pirates-related coverage, while Heineken® will anchor global sporting properties, including UEFA Champions League football, Formula 1, and padel.

The platform responds to the growing fragmentation of sports consumption, where audiences engage with multiple sporting codes, competitions, and digital touchpoints, yet increasingly encounter limited opportunities for sustained and informed analysis.

Robert Marawa said the launch reflects a shift in how sports discourse is evolving across media platforms.

“Sport no longer exists within a single broadcast moment. It moves across platforms, conversations, and audiences in real time. What often disappears is depth — the context behind decisions, the patterns behind results, and the broader significance of what we are watching. Extra Time is designed to continue the conversation in a more considered space, where analysis is not rushed and where the story is allowed to develop beyond the final whistle.”

Bolele Polisa said the format creates continuity between formal sports analysis and the natural conversations that follow among audiences.

“The discussion does not end when the broadcast ends. People continue to debate, question, and interpret what they have heard and seen. This platform brings that energy into a structured space where those conversations can continue with greater perspective and less immediacy.”

Through its weekly broadcast, as well as supporting digital and social media content, Extra Time aims to create a sustained sports conversation that bridges live analysis, post-show reflection, and ongoing audience engagement.

The programme forms part of 947’s broader sports programming slate and will air every Thursday at 7pm, immediately after Marawa Sports Worldwide, before continuing on The Frequency with Bolele Polisa.
