Sales: We Are Proud

As Mamelodi Sundowns set to face Fluminense at Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday, striker Arthur Sales reflected on the team’s recent match against Borussia Dortmund, highlighting the valuable lessons learned from facing a top European side.
The Brazilians gave their best despite losing 4-3, and they gained a lot of special praise from Dortmund coach Niko Kovac and many around the world.
“I think everyone is very proud,” Sales said.
“I think we learned too much things because when you play against a big team, you learn about different things.”
Sales emphasized that the experience gained from playing against Dortmund will be crucial in the team’s upcoming match.
“With those different things, you can put new lessons for the next game against Fluminense,” he said.
The team’s exposure to Dortmund’s high-level play will undoubtedly benefit them in their quest to advance to the round of 16. A win is essential for coach Miguel Cardoso’s side to keep their chances alive.
Fluminense, currently in first place in Group F with four points, will be a tough opponent, as they have an old horse in Thiago Silva, who won this competition with Chelsea in 2021. They also have a dangerous attacker in Jhon Arias, who has been a handful for the Brazilian side.
But Sales is confident that Sundowns can rise to the challenge.
“There’s the highest level here and big challenges, but I think when you arrive here and play these games, you can see that as Mamelodi Sundowns we have good competition,” said the Brazilian attacker.
