Seema Placed On Leave Due To Salary Dispute

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema’s future with the club appears uncertain following reports of a salary dispute.

According to Sportswire, Seema was placed on special leave with Macdonald Makhubedu taking over as caretaker manager. Unconfirmed reports suggest Seema requested an immediate pay raise due to the club’s top-four position, which did not sit well with management who viewed it as disrespectful.

“Seema’s conduct was disrespectful towards Sekhukhune United management,” claimed an anonymous source to Sportswire. “His request for a raise was denied, leading to his leave. Frankly, he’s likely to be fired. This behavior was self-destructive, and the club is disappointed. Perhaps he needed better guidance from his agent.”

It’s important to note that Seema’s contract with Sekhukhune United was set to expire at the end of the season anyway. Appointed in November 2023 after Brandon Truter’s departure, Seema’s initial objective was to solidify the team’s top-four position – a task he has seemingly achieved, with Sekhukhune currently sitting fourth in the league table with 42 points after 28 matches.

Seema has overseen 23 matches across all competitions for Sekhukhune, recording nine wins, five losses, and nine draws. The team has two remaining games before the season ends: a home clash against AmaZulu and an away fixture against Chippa United.

The source further questioned Seema’s actions, highlighting his reportedly good and timely salary at Sekhukhune. “He was well-compensated and always paid on time,” the source stated. “Knowing Sekhukhune’s management, this situation likely spells the end for him with the club.”
