Shandu Aims For A Flier Against Sekhukhune Clash

Orlando Pirates defender Bandile Shandu has emphasized that their current focus is on the clash against Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership.

Pirates will host Sekhukhune at Orlando Stadium on Saturday (17:30), kicking off their first league fixture under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

With new signings bolstering the squad and an impressive MTN8 quarter-final victory against Polokwane City on Saturday, Amabhakaniya are aiming for their first league title since the 2011/12 campaign.

Shandu has assured that preparations are going well for their opener and are looking to collect three points.

“I think right now, like I said, the main focus is the game at hand,” said Shandu.

“That’s where our thinking is right now. That’s where our focus is right now, and the preparation has been going very well this whole week, and we’re ready for the next game, that’s where we’re thinking.”

When he was asked what Ouaddou had brought to the team, Shandu dodged the question and kept emphasizing that they were focused on the upcoming match.

“Like I said, we’re focused on the next game. That’s where our mind is at,” Shandu stated.

“That’s where we’re focusing on right now. Sekhukhune, first league game, we just want to get the three points and work towards that, and like I said, the preparation has been going very, very well.”

The 27-year-old acknowledged that Babina Noko has got experienced players; however, they’ve managed to analyse everything about them.

“Sekhukhune has got a great bit of experience, the players that they have,” said Shandu.

“So overall, we’ve been looking at everything and not just set pieces, everything, game plan. So the preparation is the overall team of Sekhukhune. They’ve got a great group with experience, so we’ve been looking at the broad aspect, and not just set pieces.”
