Sibisi Sends Strong Message To Doubters After MTN8 Triumph

Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has sent a strong message to doubters following their MTN8 triumph on Saturday, saying that the team’s quality players would win the trophy no matter what. 

Despite the departure of former coach Jose Riveiro and a slow start to the season under new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, Pirates managed to overcome the odds and claim their fourth consecutive MTN8 title.

“We knew what we were capable of, and we were doing it,” Sibisi said. 

“I think we proved everything we have when we were in Spain, and despite that we didn’t start well in the league, we knew what we are made of, and we have quality players here who will win the trophy no matter what.”

Sibisi’s comments come after a remarkable journey to the final, where Pirates beat Polokwane City in the quarterfinals, overcame Mamelodi Sundowns in the semifinals, and Stellenbosch in the final. 

The victory marked a significant milestone for the Buccaneers, and Sibisi believes that they will continue to fight for more trophies.

“There’s no way that we cannot dream of pushing for every trophy,” Sibisi added. 

“With the quality squad we have, I think we’ll play for the club to win trophies. So, for us, it’s just a matter of keeping going and let’s see what the future holds.”

The Buccaneers will now focus on their next game, where they will face Lesotho giant Lioli on Saturday at Free State Stadium in the CAF Champions League first leg of the first preliminary round. 

With their momentum and confidence boosted by the MTN8 triumph, Pirates will be looking to make a strong impression in the Champions League, the competition in which they reached the semi-final last season.
