Sithebe Not Focused On Chiefs Contract Talk

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe insists his contract situation isn’t his primary focus despite it expiring at the end of the season.

Sithebe joined Amakhosi last season on a two-year deal with an option for two more years. He previously fell out of favor at AmaZulu, failing to play in the second half of the 2021/22 season despite training with the team.

With his contract expiring, Sithebe is eligible to sign a pre-contract with another club. He has only started four league matches for Chiefs this season.

“Obviously, I was away not playing because of the injury,” Sithebe explained.

“I’ve come back, gotten some opportunities, and I’m proud to be back at full fitness. It wasn’t easy. Right now, my focus is on playing as many games as possible and contributing positively to the team wherever I’m needed. Worrying about my contract will distract me from performing at my best. I’ll address that after the season is over.”

Since arriving at Naturena, Sithebe has made 33 appearances across all competitions without finding the net. Chiefs, currently 10th in the DStv Premiership with 30 points from 24 matches, turn their attention to hosting SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (17:30).
