Stellenbosch Confirm Van Wyk’s Departure

Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has confirmed that forward Antonio Van Wyk is leaving the club for Austria. Barker said the move will be finalized soon, pending the completion of all necessary paperwork.
News broke that Van Wyk will join Austrian second division side SV Ried.
“Antonio Van Wyk’s move will be finalized soon,” said Barker at a press conference in Durban ahead of Stellenbosch’s MTN8 semifinal match against Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.
Van Wyk in heading to exit door joins Deani van Rooyen who has since joined Orlando Pirates while Iqraam Rayners was signed by Sundowns.
However, it is currently unclear whether Van Wyk will participate in the Sundowns game in Pretoria.
The 22-year-old speedster was promoted to the first team ahead of the 2020/21 season and played a significant role in the club’s Carling Knockout Cup victory at Moses Mabhida Stadium in December.
He appeared in 34 matches across all competitions last season, scoring four goals and providing four assists. Since his promotion, Van Wyk has played in 80 matches for Stellenbosch, scoring six goals and providing 17 assists.
