Mamelodi Sundowns have appointed Miguel Cardoso as their new head coach, replacing Manqoba Mngqithi.  

The appointment was officially announced at a press conference on Tuesday, where Cardoso was joined by technical director Flemming Berg and chairman Tlhope Motsepe.

Mngqithi, who took over from Rulani Mokwena at the start of the season, now faces an uncertain future. Mokwena subsequently joined Wydad Casablanca.  

Cardoso is no stranger to Sundowns. As head coach of Esperance de Tunis, he led his team to a victory over Sundowns in the CAF Champions League semi-final last season. Esperance ultimately lost to Al Ahly in the final.
