Sundowns Could Face Pyramids In The Group Stages
Mamelodi Sundowns could be drawn against Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League group stage when the draw is conducted on Monday — a potential repeat of last season’s final.
Sundowns are in Pot 1 alongside Al Ahly FC (EGY), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (TUN), and RS Berkane (MAR).
Pyramids FC, meanwhile, are in Pot 2 with Simba SC (TAN), Al Hilal SC (SUD), and Young Africans (TAN).
With Sundowns in Pot 1 and Pyramids in Pot 2, the two sides could end up in the same group — a matchup Sundowns would likely welcome as a chance for redemption.
The Tshwane giants are still feeling the sting of their defeat to Pyramids in last season’s Champions League final.
“The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) has confirmed the draw procedures for the Group Stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2025/26, with the ceremony set to take place at 14h00 local time (12h00 GMT) on Monday, 03 November in Johannesburg, South Africa,” said CAF in a statement.
“Sixteen (16) clubs have advanced from the second preliminary round and will be engaged in the official group stage draw where they will be divided into four groups of four teams (Groups A-D).
“The teams have been seeded based on their performance in CAF interclub competitions over the past five seasons.”

Teams: Al Ahly FC (EGY), Mamelodi Sundowns (RSA), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (TUN), RS Berkane (MAR)
