Coach Steve Barker’s tactical masterclass and goalkeeper Sage Stevens’s crucial saves were instrumental in Stellies’ victory. The team’s counter-attacking style, led by Devin Titus, proved effective against Sundowns.

A penalty converted by Fawaaz Basadien in the second half gave Stellies the lead. Sundowns struggled to impose their usual dominance, lacking the attacking flair they displayed under previous coach Rulani Mokwena.
