Sundowns Thump Arrows To Extend Lead At The Top

Peter Shalulile was involved in three goals as Mamelodi Sundowns crushed Golden Arrows 4-0 in the Betway Premiership match at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
The Namibian international came just before half-time for Siphelele Mkhulise when the game was goalless and was immediately involved in the opening goal as Sundowns took the lead in the 44th minute.
Shalulile’s header was flicked away by Ismail Watenga before he was taken down by Ugandan goalkeeper for a penalty spot. Lucas Ribeiro Costa converted the spot kick for Sundowns.
Then the floodgates opened up in the second half by that man again – Shalulile and Teboho Mokoena.
The Namibian talisman grabbed a brace, and his first goal came in the 65th minute while the second came in the 80th minute with a great assist from Ribeiro.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder Mokoena added the fourth from outside the box which took a huge deflection and left Watenga gasping for the air. Sundowns also crushed Arrows 5-0 at the same venue in the Carling Knockout round of 16 early in the season.
Arrows was up against it as they have not beaten Sundowns away since April 2017.
Miguel Cardoso’s side is now on 36 points after 13 matches, six points clear of Orlando Pirates who are lying second in the table with a game in hand. These two sides will face each other on Saturday at Loftus Stadium, Pretoria in a fully packed stadium as the tickets have been already sold out.
