Mamelodi Sundowns, gearing up for their final league match of the season against Cape Town City on Saturday, have a historic feat within reach.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is calling on fans to pack the stands and witness a potential “invincible” season.

Sundowns have already clinched the DStv Premiership title in record-breaking fashion, boasting a perfect record with 72 points. Reflecting on their dominance, Williams emphasizes the weight of the upcoming match:

“This game has so many big things to it. If we avoid defeat, then we will be the first team to get the invincible tag in South Africa and that’s massive.”

“We fully deserve it,” Williams continues. “The hard work, the sacrifices – a win would be the perfect ending. Especially in front of our supporters. They have been amazing throughout the season, so I would like to urge them once again to come out in numbers, to come out and show the appreciation for the work we have done throughout the season. It’s been tough, there’s been a lot of challenging moments, but they stuck with us.” 

Sundowns have been a class above this season, securing their seventh consecutive league title an astonishing six games early. In their 29 matches, they remain undefeated, scoring 52 goals while conceding only 10. This phenomenal performance has not only solidified their domestic dominance but also earned Williams nominations for Footballer of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season, and Goalkeeper of the Season.
