Moremi Sends Social Media Frenzy By Wearing Pirates Kit
Tshepang Moremi appears close to joining Orlando Pirates, as the player recently shared a social media post wearing the Soweto Giants’ 2011/12 Betway Premiership title season jersey.
Everything has reportedly been agreed upon for the 25-year-old left-footed attacker to move from AmaZulu to Orlando Pirates ahead of the next season, a move Moremi himself has hinted at.
Moremi, who was loaned out by AmaZulu to JDR Stars in the 2022/23 season, was a key player for Usuthu last season. He scored three goals in 31 matches across all competitions, helping AmaZulu finish sixth, their first top-eight finish after two seasons outside of it. This successful season is what has reportedly led Pirates to secure his signature.
Moremi will be the second player to join Pirates from a KwaZulu-Natal club, following the agreement to sign Yanela Mbuthuma from Richards Bay. These two, along with Sihle Nduli from Stellenbosch, Masindi Nemtajela from Marumo Gallants, and Baroka attacker Kabelo Kgosietsile, are expected to be new additions to the Pirates squad for next season.
Additionally, Sportswire reportedly earlier on Friday, they have invited Jaisen Clifford to train with the club.
The last time Pirates signed a player directly from AmaZulu was Makhehleni Makhaula in the second half of the 2022/23 season.
Historically, other players who have moved from AmaZulu to Pirates include Tapelo Xoki, Innocent Zikalala, Lelo Mbele (when the club was known as Zulu Royals), and Guy-Roger Nzeng.
