Casric Coach: De Sa Insulted My Mom

Casric Stars coach Bucs Mthombeni has accused Cape Town City assistant coach Roger De Sa of using derogatory language in their heated exchange during the PSL Promotion/Relegation clash between the two teams.
The promotion aspirants held the desperate Citizens to a 1-1 draw as Sphamandla Milo canceled out Prins Tjiueza’s first-half opener with the last kick of the game from the penalty spot at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Wednesday.
The race to secure a spot in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign is intensifying, with Casric, City, and Orbit College level on two points after two games played. In addition, the three teams have a goal difference of zero in the goal-shy playoffs.
In the wake of the stalemate, Mthombeni voiced his displeasure at not being able to claim maximum points in a game he deemed a must-win. The CEO-become-coach insists he always has an upper hand against top-flight teams.
“Look at the supporters, we are 99% in the stands, these people are behind us. I owe them an apology because this was a must-win match. I told the players in the dressing room that I play friendly matches against PSL teams, I’m always dominant, I’m always above them,” he told SuperSport TV.
“The players were just panicking in this game; they didn’t stick to the plan. But credit to my players, I think we need to stay positive.”
The Casric mentor went on to reveal that his counterpart, de Sa, on the opposite bench, used a foreign language to insult him with his mother as tempers flared between the two tacticians desperate for crucial three points.
“Somebody insulted me in Portuguese, I know Portuguese, I know what you mean. You’re calling [insulting] me with my mother, but he’s my legend, I love him, Roger [De Sa], at least we hugged each other after the match. In 1996 [AFCON triumph], I was his number one supporter, I love him as well,” added Mthombeni.
“Apologies to Roger. People say I’m crazy, but if you insult my mom and she’s lying in a cemetery, I have to react the way I did, but apologies to Roger, it’s the emotions of the game.”
The Mpumalanga-based outfit will return to action with a visit from Pogiso Makhoye’s Orbit on Saturday. Meanwhile, City will visit the Rustenburg side next week Wednesday, 25 June, in what will be the Mswenko Boys’ final match.
