Orlando Pirates have further strengthened their squad after confirming the signing of Thapelo Mokobodi from Stellenbosch FC.
The right-back is the latest player to make the move from Stellenbosch to Pirates during the current transfer window, following the arrival of Mthetheleli Mthiyane.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of defender Thapelo Mokobodi from Stellenbosch FC ahead of the new Betway Premiership campaign,” the club said in a statement.
“The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract and will link up with the rest of the squad this morning.”
Mokobodi expressed his excitement after completing the move.
“I am pleased to be here and look forward to meeting the rest of the team.
“It’s a big opportunity to play for such a club, and I am ready to get going. I would like to make a meaningful contribution to this great institution.”
Mokobodi becomes Pirates’ ninth signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of Sebastian Pedersen, Ghampani Lungu, Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Neo Rapoo, Aphiwe Baliti, Sbangani Zulu, Bohlale Ngwato and Matome Mmolai.
The 23-year-old has been handed the No. 33 jersey for the new season.
