‘An Answered Prayer’: Sechaba Breaks Silence On Mofokeng’s Multi-Million European Transfer
Relebohile Mofokeng’s father, Sechaba Mofokeng, has expressed his gratitude following his son’s transfer to Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, describing the move as an answered prayer for the family.
The 21-year-old Bafana Bafana winger has signed a four-year contract through 2030, sealing a dream European move directly off the back of South Africa’s historic knockout stage run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Mofokeng leaves Orlando Pirates after establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in South African football.
Since breaking into the first team, Mofokeng consistently impressed with his performances, earning widespread praise and cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most exciting emerging stars.
The move to Belgium has brought immense joy not only to his father but also to his mother, who has previously spoken about her desire to see her son take the next step in his career by playing abroad.
During his time with the Buccaneers, Mofokeng enjoyed a remarkable spell, registering 29 goals and 31 assists in 125 appearances across all competitions. He also played a pivotal role in helping Pirates secure a domestic treble last season, further underlining his importance to the team.
