Bulls Charge Into URC Semis, Stormers’ Run Ends
The Vodacom Bulls are the lone South African team remaining in the United Rugby Championship after the DHL Stormers fell to the Glasgow Warriors on Saturday.
The Bulls secured a tense 30-23 victory over Benetton in the quarterfinals, booking a home semi-final clash against Leinster at Loftus Versfeld next weekend. The Stormers’ hopes of reaching the top four for a third consecutive season were dashed by a 27-10 defeat in Scotland.
Munster and Leinster also progressed, defeating Ospreys and Steven Kitshoff’s Ulster respectively, setting up a semi-final rematch of last year’s final in Limerick. The winner will likely host the grand final in Ireland on 22 June.
Bulls Survive Benetton Scare
The Bulls displayed grit in a nail-biting encounter against Benetton. After leading 17-8 at halftime, they held on for a 30-23 victory despite conceding three tries. Springbok speedster Kurt-Lee Arendse scored two early tries for the Bulls, who weathered a strong second-half showing from Benetton.
