CAF Announces New TV Rights Deals With SABC And SuperSport TV

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced new media rights and TV agreements for the 2024/25 CAF Interclub Competitions.
South African broadcasters SuperSport TV and the SABC, along with Tanzania’s Azam Media, have secured the rights to broadcast these competitions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The agreements cover the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, CAF Women’s Champions League, and TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup. SuperSport International has acquired the pay-TV rights (in English), while SABC and Azam Media have secured the free-to-air rights.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized the importance of media rights as a significant source of income for the development of African football. He highlighted the growing interest in African football from both African and international broadcasters and welcomed SuperSport, SABC, and Azam Media as partners.
The TV audience for the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League increased by over 25% in North Africa, and by over 40% in East and Southern Africa. This growth extends to both TV viewership and digital engagement.
SuperSport and the SABC previously acquired the rights to broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast earlier this year. South Africa’s Bafana Bafana finished third in the tournament.
