Ditlhokwe Nears Return For Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has confirmed that defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is nearing a return from injury.
Ditlhokwe, nicknamed “TT,” last played for Chiefs in the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on 11 November 2023. He then joined the Botswana national team during the FIFA break thereafter, featuring in World Cup qualifiers against Mozambique and Guinea. However, he was forced off in the 63rd minute of the Guinea match.
Signed from SuperSport United at the beginning of the season to bolster the defense alongside Given Msimango, Ditlhokwe’s return is eagerly anticipated.
“TT is almost there,” Johnson replied to Sportswire when questioned about the Botswana international’s recovery.
“He underwent major surgery on his rotator cuff, but he’s been training. We hope to give him some playing time before the season ends.
“Six games (left) and TT is a defender, but I need strikers and maybe I will make him a striker, nothing else,” equipped Johnson.
Amakhosi, currently sitting in 10th place, will face Ditlhokwe’s former club, SuperSport United, at Peter Mokaba Stadium this Saturday (17:30).
