Durban City To Face AmaZulu In KZN Premier’s Cup Semi-Final

Durban City have booked their spot in the semi-finals of the KZN Premier’s Cup after defeating Milford FC 2-1 in a playoff match at Umhlathuze Stadium on Saturday.
They will now face AmaZulu in Sunday’s semi-final. Led by experienced coach Gavin Hunt, City had to come from behind to overcome the Motsepe Foundation Championship side. AmaZulu secured their semi-final berth earlier on Saturday by beating Golden Arrows 3-2 in the other playoff.
Milford FC opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Thabiso Radebe rifled home a shot. However, they were unable to extend their lead in the second half.
City leveled the score in the 54th minute when Samkelo Maseko ran onto a pass and unleashed a powerful strike across goal. Coach Gavin Hunt, known for his stoic demeanor, remained rooted in the dugout, showing little emotion despite the breakthrough on what was a chilly day in Richards Bay.
Durban City then doubled their lead from a similar range, with Trevor Mokwena getting on the end of a lifted ball in the box and firing across goal to beat Siphamandla Hleza, making it 2-1. Milford, who had initially taken the lead, appeared to run out of ideas as the game progressed, lacking the attacking threat needed to trouble Hunt’s side.
No further significant action took place in the second half. Hunt, appointed to lead the Durban side just a few weeks ago, showcased his experience by guiding his team to the semi-finals, which will be played at the same venue on Sunday.
