Fadlu’s Simba Reclaims Top Spot

Fadlu Davids’ Simba SC returned to the summit of the NBC Tanzanian Premier League standings after securing a comfortable 3-0 victory against Tanzania Prisons at KMC Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Ivorian attacking midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua opened the scoring for the Reds of Msimbazi in the half-hour mark before a quick-fire brace from Ladaki Chasambi rounded up the scoring on the stroke of half-time.
The win saw Davids’ men regain control in the Tanzanian top-flight after a slip-up in their last match, where they were held to a 1-1 draw by Singida Fountain Gate, allowing fierce rivals Young Africans to dislodge them.
Simba capitalized on Yanga’s newly appointed mentor Miloud Hamdi’s failure to win his first game in charge of the club after replacing Sead Ramovic at the helm. The former TS Galaxy coach moved to Algerian giants CR Belouizdad, where he will work with Khanyisa Mayo.
The ex-Orlando Pirates co-coach saw his troops take their points tally to 47, one point above the defending champions. In addition, they scored 38 goals and conceded six in 18 [W15 D2 L1] league outings.
Davids, who reportedly turned down CAF Champions League quarterfinalists AS FAR from Morocco, in favor of overseeing his project at Simba, will be keen to maintain the momentum and end Yanga’s dominance of clinching four consecutive league titles.
With the title race looking likely to go down to the wire, both Simba and Yanga are enjoying unbeaten runs in the league, with the former cruising on a 12-game streak while the latter is on an eight-game undefeated form.
Up next for the South African mentor and his allies is a visit from Dodoma Jiji FC on Saturday, while title challengers Young Africans will travel to Kinondoni FC a day before, as Hamdi searches for his first win in the hot seat.
