Fielies Believes In Turnaround Despite Struggles

AmaZulu defender Taariq Fielies remains confident in his team’s ability to turn their season around despite their current lowly position in the league standings.

With only 28 points from 24 games, AmaZulu sits in 13th place, far from their preseason ambitions. Yet, Fielies emphasizes the team’s unwavering trust in their coach’s strategies, even amidst a string of disappointing results.

“Since joining the team, the coach has demanded a lot, and the players are fully committed to his vision,” Fielies said, highlighting the squad’s buy-in.

He acknowledges that implementing a new philosophy takes time but maintains hope for a reversal in fortunes. This is Fielies’ debut season at AmaZulu after joining from Cape Town City. He brings a wealth of experience and a determined attitude to contribute positively to his new team.

Reflecting on recent matches, Fielies emphasizes the team’s resilience and the need for a stroke of luck to shift momentum. “With the talent we have, I believe it’s possible,” he said. “A bit of luck on our side could make all the difference.”

He also underscores the importance of all aspects of the game coming together, from strikers scoring goals to defenders tightening up the backline.

Last season, AmaZulu finished 12th under interim coach Ayanda Dlamini following the dismissal of Brandon Truter and Romain Folz. Fresh in their minds are the struggles of the previous season, and AmaZulu is eager to avoid a similar fate when they face the Chilli Boys at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (3:00 PM).

Looking ahead to the upcoming match, Fielies stresses the importance of every player performing at their best to secure a critical victory. “Everyone needs to bring their A-game. We need results, plain and simple,” he asserted.

Fielies’ optimism serves as a rallying cry for both the team and supporters. They look to defy the odds and reignite their season with a crucial win.
