Johannes Aspiring To Create History With Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns’ newest centre-back, Keagan Johannes, has opened up about his ambitions and motivations for the club, representing the latest in a long line of talent shared between the two teams.
Reflecting on his move from Cape Town to the fast-paced Johannesburg, Johannes acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new environment. “Life happens so quickly,” he shared, emphasizing the need for resilience and adaptability.
Family remains Johannes’ core motivation. “I speak to my mom every day. Knowing where I come from and being able to change the environment for the next generation is a massive achievement for me,” he explained, highlighting his strong family values.
When it comes to his on-field ambitions, Johannes is driven by the desire to win. “The number one is probably the CAF Champions League. Every professional player wants to win trophies and bring joy to the fans,” he said, expressing a strong commitment to achieving glory with his team. “We are public entertainers, here for the fans. That’s what brings them to watch us. I want to win everything possible.”
Johannes’ aspirations at Sundowns are clear: to set new standards and build on the club’s rich history. He aims to be part of a history-making squad, striving to win as many titles as possible and establishing a benchmark for future generations.
As the new season approaches, Johannes is ready to face the challenges ahead, eager for his breakthrough moment. Acknowledging the quality of his teammates, he remains focused on hard work and the guidance of the coaching staff. “It’s going to be a lot of hard work for me, but with the support of the coaching team, I can achieve my goals,” said the defender.
Johannes is the 19th player Sundowns have signed from SuperSport since Gavin Hunt’s side came into existence.
