Kadodia: Pitso’s Role To Be Reviewed Despite Strong Form

Durban City chairman Farook Kadodia says he does not want to place added pressure on interim coach Pitso Dladla, despite the team’s impressive run of form, but confirmed that the position will be reviewed in due course.

Dladla was appointed caretaker coach in February following the departure of Sinethemba Badela.

It is the second time this season he has taken charge on an interim basis, having also stepped in during December after Gavin Hunt left the club.

In both stints, Dladla has overseen four victories in all competitions without conceding a single goal — a remarkable defensive record.

Durban City Climb to Fourth in Betway Premiership

On Sunday, City moved up to fourth place in the Betway Premiership standings after a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The result took their tally to 31 points from 19 matches, placing them one spot above fifth-placed Kaizer Chiefs.

“It is clear — it is an interim position,” Kadodia said.

“I don’t want to put pressure on Pitso. I think the decisions about the future will be reviewed; I don’t want to make any promises now.”

Impressive Season After Promotion

For a club promoted last season and operating on a limited budget, sitting fourth on the log represents a significant achievement. The team was rebranded from Maritzburg United to Durban City at the start of last season, marking a new chapter in its history.

“I think it is a very good position to be in,” Kadodia added.

“The players must enjoy this, but after that we have to remain grounded because we have a big game against Sekhukhune United at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday.”

Notably, Durban City remain unbeaten at Chatsworth Stadium this season. Their only two home defeats came when they hosted matches at Moses Mabhida Stadium against Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
