Morena: We Can Beat Pirates Again

Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli is confident of another victory over Orlando Pirates, drawing inspiration from sprinter Tebogo Letsile’s recent Olympic gold medal.
Galaxy will host Pirates in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League at National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday (16:00), aiming to replicate their success from last season, when they eliminated the Soweto giants at the same stage.
While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Ramoreboli believes it’s possible to defeat Pirates and points to Letsile’s historic achievement in the Paris Olympics as a source of motivation.
The 21-year-old made history by winning the 200m final, securing Botswana’s first-ever Olympic gold medal with a time of 19.46 seconds. His victory sparked widespread celebrations in Botswana, leading to a national holiday and government recognition, including the award of two houses.
“It’s another opportunity for us to remind every young Botswana out there that it is possible to achieve greatness,” said Ramoreboli, who previously defeated Pirates in the Nedbank Cup in 2013 when he was in charge of Maluti FET College.
“It doesn’t matter when you are coming from. I think I have gained so much inspiration from Mr Letsile because I believe that he has shown that it doesn’t matter which giant you are facing, as long as you believe in yourselves you will achieve what you want to achieve.
“I think we are a group of individuals who are representing a country that has a potential to produce great individuals, great athletes and I think Tebogo has made us understand that it is possible to achieve great things and it doesn’t matter where you are coming from, it doesn’t matter where you are training, the most important thing is the belief.
“I think we have done our part – psychologically, physically. It’s a matter of getting onto the field of play, do our best.”
The second leg of this tie will take place at Orlando Stadium on 21 September.
