Mvala Targets Early Goals To Secure CAF Champions League Title

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mothobi Mvala has stated that the team must score early to secure a favorable result in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final against Pyramids FC.

The crucial match is scheduled for Sunday evening at the 30 June Stadium.

Sundowns walked away with a disadvantage after the Egyptian-based side scored an away goal in the final minutes of the first leg at Loftus Stadium on Saturday, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Mvala mentioned that to win the game, they should score early by getting a few goals.

“I think in the first leg we did well, you know. We didn’t allow them to put crosses, it’s just that in the dying minutes we lost concentration there and allowed the cross in the box,” said Mvala.

“We didn’t mark well in the box, and that’s how we conceded the goal. It’s something that we need to work on. I think we should kill the game early. We need to score more goals.”

He continued: “By doing so, we’re going to kill their confidence because when the score is still 1-0, they get confidence to come back, especially towards the end where you start to sit deep, you want to protect the goal, that’s where they’ll get the confidence. So, I hope when we go that side we get at least three or two goals.”

The 30-year-old expressed disappointment with how the first leg ended, but emphasized that they are prepared for the second leg and hope to win.

“We’re happy as a team to achieve one of the goals that we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season, and we’re just not happy with the results that we got in the first leg of the final,” Mvala explained.

“But we’re preparing ourselves, getting ready for the second leg of the final, and we hope that we’ll get the results that we need, that side which is to win the game and get the trophy.
