Nabi Confident Of Securing Top 8, Makes Plea To Chiefs Supporters

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is optimistic about his team’s chances of finishing the 2024/25 campaign in the top eight and called on the Amakhosi faithful to fill up the FNB Stadium in their final match of the season.

The Soweto giants were held to a 1-1 draw by continental football-chasing Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. Winger Glody Makabi Lilepo salvaged a point for the Glamour Boys as he canceled out Ngoanello Rammala’s opener.

As a result, the Naturena-based outfit is still in ninth place in the Betway Premiership standings with 31 points collected in 27 league outings. Chiefs face the daunting reality of possibly missing out on a respectable top-eight finish for two consecutive seasons after a 10th-place berth last term.

With one game to go, the Tunisian mentor insists the race to break into the top half of the table will go down to the wire, assuring that the technical team will punch above its weight to bring a favorable result that will qualify the team for next season’s MTN8.

“If you look at the table, we think it’s a situation that is going to be resolved until the last game, the last minute, but we are going to do everything [to achieve top eight]. We are confident, we are playing at home for the last game, and we are going to have our supporters,” said Nabi.

While he exudes confidence in sealing the top eight spot, Nabi made a rallying plea to Chiefs supporters, urging them to come out in numbers and be the 12th man that will get the team over the line in the grand finale.

“Everyone knows how important it is. I want to ask all the fans to come to FNB Stadium for the next game. We need them, we need their support, because the game is very important. We need the three points; we need them to support us to win inshallah,” implored the 59-year-old tactician.

“That is a message to all our supporters, our last game is at home, we need their support, we need them to come in numbers, and together we will do it.”

Amakhosi will welcome Polokwane City to the Calabash in their penultimate outing of the campaign.

Rise and Shine are equally keen to register a top-eight finish as they have accumulated 33 points and are currently in seventh place with a five-game winless run.
