Nabi Expresses Frustration Despite Victory Over Chippa

Despite securing a victory over Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi expressed frustration with his team’s performance.
Chiefs claimed a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a spectacular individual goal from Mdu Shabalala, who skillfully navigated past several defenders before unleashing a powerful shot.
This victory moved Chiefs to seventh in the league table with 15 points from 10 matches, one point ahead of both Chippa United and Golden Arrows. It also marked their first clean sheet in the league this season.
This win ended Chiefs’ recent struggles against Chippa in Durban. However, the 2024 season has been a challenging one for the club, with only seven victories across all competitions, indicating a significant need for improvement. Chiefs have conceded in every league match this season, further highlighting areas for improvement.
“I feel like the first half was good and we were playing against a team that was playing a low block,” said Nabi after the game.
“We controlled the game in the whole first half. At half time, we emphasized to score the second goal. We were playing with the hand brake on, not advancing in areas that we wanted. We played with fear most of the time.
“With this form, we hope to kick on from next year.”
Chiefs will resume their league campaign in 2025 with an away match against Cape Town City at DHL Stadium on 5 January.
