“Our Best Is Enough”: Mofokeng Defiant As Pirates Stay Top Despite Derby Draw

Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng admitted that their Betway Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs was a tough encounter, but emphasised that the team will continue pushing as the title race intensifies.
Pirates and Chiefs played out a 1–1 draw in a sold-out match at FNB Stadium on Sunday.
It was a challenging game for both sides, particularly for Mofokeng, the 2024/25 Young Player of the Season, who was unable to create as many scoring opportunities as he typically does.
While the draw may feel like a setback for Pirates, who are chasing the title alongside Mamelodi Sundowns, it is still a better outcome than a defeat. Sundowns also dropped crucial points after a goalless draw against Richards Bay on Sunday, although they have a game in hand.
“A very tough game against a difficult opponent,” said Mofokeng.
“The Soweto Derby is always challenging, but I think the guys did very well. We managed to score one goal, and they also got one, so I think we can take the point.
“We gave it everything. We tried to create chances, we defended, and we did all we could because we are fighting for the league. We went all out. Our best has to be enough, so we will keep going and continue working hard,” he added.
Pirates remain top of the table with 59 points from 26 matches, holding a one-point lead over Sundowns, who have 58 points from 25 games.
