Polokwane Hijacks Malepe Signing From AmaZulu

Polokwane City has successfully signed attacker Keagile Malepe, hijacking his move to AmaZulu.

Malepe was widely said to be heading to AmaZulu from the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Pretoria Callies.

However, Rise and Shine have won the race for his signature, making him their fourth acquisition from Callies in this transfer window. A source close to the situation stated, “AmaZulu could not agree on the offer, and Malepe is now going to Polokwane.”

Other players Polokwane City has signed from Callies in this window, as previously revealed by Sportswire, include Mpho Mvundlela, Seketso Moremi, and Keorapetse Sebone.

Polokwane is bolstering their squad after losing star attacker Oswin Appollis, who was signed by Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.

AmaZulu’s Transfer Window Activity

While AmaZulu missed out on Malepe, they have welcomed Zimbabwean international Thando Ngwenya from FC Platinum to training.

They have also brought in striker Simon Van Duivenbooden, who holds South African citizenship and is currently a free agent after leaving Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem. Duivenbooden also has experience as a youth player at PSV Eindhoven U19 in the Dutch league.

As revealed by Sportswire on Wednesday, Usuthu also secured Liam Bern from Cape Town Spurs, who were relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the ABC Motsepe Regional League in Cape Town.

Sportswire previously reported that Usuthu signed Keagan Allan from Richards Bay, along with former Chippa United goalkeeper Darren Johnson.

The club has also welcomed former Stellenbosch graduate Liam De Kock, Sibusiso Shibane (a graduate of the KZN Academy), and former Kaizer Chiefs striker Ryan Moon, who left Golden Arrows at the end of last season.

AmaZulu is actively strengthening their squad ahead of the new season for coach Arthur Zwane, especially after parting ways with 19 players, including the surprising departures of Ethan Brooks and Rowan Human.
