Rayners Stunning Feat Leaves Him Speechless

Stellenbosch FC striker Iqraam Rayners was left speechless after his incredible five-goal performance in their 5-0 thrashing of Polokwane City at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday.

Rayners lit up the stadium with a dazzling display, single-handedly propelling Stellenbosch to a resounding victory. His awe-inspiring performance saw him score all five goals for his team, etching his name into South African football history.

The electrifying display began in the 17th minute when Rayners unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, setting the tone for a night dominated by his brilliance.

As the final whistle blew, Rayners was the center of attention, not just for his remarkable feat but also for his humble acknowledgement of the team’s contribution. “We needed to kill the game off in the first half by converting our chances into goals,” Rayners reflected. “We came out much stronger in the second half,” he added, demonstrating both his strategic thinking and leadership qualities on the pitch.

The former SuperSport United player, now in his second stint with Stellenbosch after helping them gain promotion in 2019, thanked coach Steve Barker and his technical staff for laying the groundwork.

“This opportunity is thanks to the technical team and coaches for all their work on the game plan throughout the week,” Rayners remarked, showing his humility shining through as brightly as his talent. “Obviously, I’m happy to score five goals,” he concluded.

Rayners’ performance propelled him to the top of the Premier League scoring charts, surpassing formidable competitors like Tshegofatso Mabasa and Lucas Ribeiro (both on 11 goals). This feat also placed him alongside legends like James Chamanga, who famously scored five goals for Swallows in their 6-2 victory over Platinum Stars in 2007.

With Stellenbosch, still unbeaten in their last 24 league games, aiming to secure a Champions League spot ahead of Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, Rayners and his goalscoring prowess will be a crucial part of their attack and a force to be reckoned with throughout the league.
