Seema’s Stunner Secures Win For Pirates

Lebone Seema scored a spectacular goal in the second half to help Orlando Pirates secure their second consecutive league win with a 1-0 victory over Orbit College at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

Seema, who is filling in for the injured Nkosinathi Sibisi, unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box, leaving Orbit’s goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane stranded. This marks the Buccaneers’ second league win in a row, following their victory against Stellenbosch FC at the same venue last Wednesday.

In a significant pre-match decision, star attacker Relebohile Mofokeng was rested, as his recent performances have been under scrutiny. This gave Tshegofatso Mabasa his first start of the season after his heroics in the MTN8 semi-final win against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, where he scored the winning penalty.

Despite a dominant first half, Pirates failed to break the deadlock. Patrick Maswanganyi, who started the match despite being substituted early in the game against Sundowns, had a clear chance to score but couldn’t get enough power behind his weaker-footed shot. Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, a hero against Sundowns, nearly gifted Orbit a goal with a stray pass but managed to recover. The visiting “Umswenko Boys” held their ground, ending the first half in a goalless draw.

The moment of magic came in the 56th minute. A cross from Kamogelo Sebelebele was half-cleared by the Orbit defense, and the ball fell perfectly to Seema. He hit a thunderous, right-footed shot that beat Moerane hands down. The goalkeeper appeared to lose his footing as he tried to make the save.

After the goal, Pirates took control of the game, dictating the tempo and possession. Mabasa had a long-range shot go wide, while Sebelebele, who had scored in his last three matches, saw his goal-bound shot saved.

With the victory, Pirates have climbed to seventh on the Betway Premiership table with six points from four matches. Orbit College, who have only one win this season, have dropped to 14th place with three points.
