Sekhukhune Complete Grobler’s Signing

Sportswire has been informed that Sekhukhune United has completed the signing of Bradley Grobler.
Grobler joins Sekhukhune United from SuperSport United, a club he parted ways with at the end of last season. He leaves SuperSport as their all-time leading goalscorer, with 91 goals in 293 matches.
Considered one of the best finishers in the PSL, Grobler shared the PSL Golden Boot award in the 2020/21 season with Peter Shalulile. However, he was hampered by long-term injuries last season, managing only four goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.
As Grobler battled injuries under coach Gavin Hunt and later caretaker coach Andre Arendse, SuperSport United struggled throughout the season, finishing third from bottom in the Betway Premiership table. Their official safety from relegation led to tears of joy from Arendse and the technical team after they drew with Golden Arrows in the replayed match. Grobler played only 22 minutes of that resumed game.
The 37-year-old had been with SuperSport United since January 2013, when he joined from Cape Town Spurs after a brief spell with Turkish side Göztepe.
Since arriving at SuperSport 12 years ago, Grobler has won two Nedbank Cup trophies – in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons, both against Orlando Pirates. He scored in both finals, which were played at Peter Mokaba Stadium and Moses Mabhida Stadium, respectively.
Grobler also won the Carling Knockout trophy under Gordon Igesund in the 2014/15 season. Other trophies added to his cabinet include two MTN8 titles: in the 2017/18 season under current Sekhukhune coach Eric Tinkler, and in the 2019/20 season, where he scored in the final against Highlands Park at Orlando Stadium. That 2019/20 MTN8 win was SuperSport’s last trophy, achieved under Kaitano Tembo.
Grobler’s move to Sekhukhune United will be a reunion with Eric Tinkler, who had a single stint with SuperSport in the 2017/18 season. Both Grobler and Tinkler experienced the disappointment of losing the CAF Confederation Cup final in 2017 against TP Mazembe while with the Tshwane giants.
Grobler is the second player to be signed by Sekhukhune United after Miguel Timm, who joined the club after leaving Orlando Pirates.
