Allende Eyes Strong Finish Before Crucial Champions League Final

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende has emphasized the team’s determination to conclude their dominant league season with a victory against Magesi at Loftus Stadium this Sunday.

This final Premiership fixture serves as crucial preparation for their highly anticipated CAF Champions League final against Pyramids FC.

Having secured the league title with an impressive 70 points from 27 matches (23 wins, 3 losses), Sundowns are now shifting focus to the continental stage. Under the guidance of Miguel Cardoso, who took over mid-season, the Brazilians have reached the Champions League final, with the two legs scheduled for 24 May and 1 June.

“Of course, it’s the last game we need to finish in the same way we started,” said Allende.

“I think it’s an important game to finish in the best way, and preparing for the final is the important thing we have in our mind.”

While aiming for a win against Magesi, Allende underscored the significance of the Champions League final.

“Sundowns, we play for a win. We know they’re strong. We played two games against them; both games were tough. We lost the [Carling Knockout Cup] final, in the league we won 2-1, and they’re starting to win the games, so it’s a tough game,” he said. 

“We’re taking it very seriously, and as I said in the question before, we’re preparing for the final CAF and winning, of course. Winning is the best feeling the players can have.” 

Following their match against Magesi, Sundowns will officially celebrate their eighth consecutive league title and their 15th PSL championship.
