Breaking: Kerr Resigns At Gallants

Sportswire has been informed that newly appointed coach Dylan Kerr has resigned as head coach of Marumo Gallants with immediate effect.
This follows a meeting between Kerr and the club on Monday, during which it appears that Kerr was dissatisfied with several agreed-upon matters.
“Kerr has resigned as Gallants coach. It was after the meeting on Monday,” a source told Sportswire.
Gallants had only recently confirmed Kerr’s return to the club earlier this month after acquiring Moroka Swallows, where Kerr had previously coached. His departure just days into the role means the club must now begin the search for a new head coach.
Kerr guided Gallants to the Nedbank Cup triumph in the 2020/21 season under the ownership of chairman Abram Sello, who purchased the club mid-season and subsequently renamed it Marumo Gallants in the following campaign.
However, Kerr, in the 2021/22 season, left Gallants to join Swallows but was sacked in September 2022 following a heavy defeat by Golden Arrows. He returned to Gallants towards the end of the 2022/23 season in a bid to save the club from relegation, but ultimately failed to prevent their drop to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Despite relegation, Gallants enjoyed a notable run in the CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the semifinals before being eliminated by Young Africans of Tanzania. The club’s recent acquisition of Swallows secured their return to the top flight, but they now face the challenge of finding a new coach before the Betway Premiership kicks off next month.
The club has a busy period ahead as they work to align themselves with the PSL’s requirements and the signing of new players for the upcoming season.
