Cardoso Lays Down The Law To Adams

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says anyone who joins the Brazilians including Jayden Adams who has already joined the club needs to prove himself to the technical team for him to get a game time.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder joined the Brazilians on a long-term contract as he was announced on Saturday from Stellenbosch, after helping Stellies to reach the quarterfinal of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Adams becomes the third player to leave Steve Barker’s side this season, as Iqraam Rayners joined Sundowns while Deano Van Rooyen joined Orlando Pirates.

“Regarding the market, obviously the club will see there’s an opportunity in the market that can make it stronger,” Cardoso said.

“But we believe in our players and any player that has entered this group needs to prove himself. They need to show that they are better than our players then we’ll see.

“So, [Jayden] Adams and anyone that can join the group needs to prove himself to the technical team. When you sign a player, I had a chance to tell him [on Saturday] that we expect that they dream higher and they put their dreams, their objectives on the table and we work hard for them.

“If that happens, everybody will help us for sure because we are open to analyzing the performances done daily and the players that perform better are the ones that go on the pitch.

“Anyway, we have a lot of competition, we have expectations on the players that join the club and it’s also from us to give them what they still need for adaption of the group, take the best from them, and then they can truly of course prove what they can add from the group.”
