Nabi Appeals For More Patience At Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has reiterated his understanding of the pressures associated with coaching a club of Amakhosi’s stature, both domestically and internationally.

Despite its struggles in the PSL and having not won a major trophy since 2015, Chiefs is the last club from South Africa to have reached the CAF Champions League final which was in 2021.  

They lost to Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly, and it was impressive journey for the club as they were serving a FIFA transfer ban at the time.     

Nabi was appointed as Amakhosi coach during the off season with the main restore the pride and the history of the club, having embarrassingly failed to finish within the top eight last season.  

However, as that was the case, that has allowed Nabi a sufficient time to prepare his team ahead of the first game of the 2024/25 season against Marumo Gallants at Toyota Stadium on Saturday,14 September.

“I know what it takes to coach Kaizer Chiefs,” said Nabi. 

“I know the pressure because I have been there, I knows how Kaizer Chiefs that is big in South Africa and Africa. 

“So, I should be given time to put back the club where it was before. I cannot make promises right away, but I know the expectations of the team and the fans.”

I should be given time to restore the club to its former glory. I can’t make promises immediately, but I’m aware of the team’s and fans’ expectations.”

Chiefs have strengthened their squad during the offseason with the signings of Njabulo Blom, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Bradley Cross, Fiacre Ntwari, Inacio Miguel, and Gaston Sirino. Nabi has indicated that he’s still looking to add more players to his squad, with AmaZulu left-back Riaan Hanamub reportedly on their radar.
