PSL Reschedule City Vs Milford Match After Zondi Tragedy

The Motsepe Foundation Championship match between Durban City and Milford, which was suspended on 22 April at Chatsworth Stadium following the tragic passing of Sinamandla Zondi, will be played on Wednesday (19:30).
As the league suspended the game after 45 minutes had been played, it will resume from where it was halted. All statistics recorded up to that point will stand. According to PSL rules, since the match was suspended in the first half due to a tragedy, the remaining 45 minutes of the second half will be played, and the game will not restart entirely.
Zondi collapsed on 22 April and received immediate medical attention at the stadium before being urgently transported to Chatsmed Garden Hospital.
This incident understandably traumatized the Durban City players and technical team, leading to the game’s suspension. Sadly, Zondi passed away at the hospital shortly before 8:00 PM.
Since the suspension of that match, Durban City have won their subsequent two fixtures, putting them on 52 points after 27 games. They secured victories against Pretoria Callies and JDR Stars, with the latter win occurring this past weekend.
Durban City, rebranded from Maritzburg United at the beginning of the season and relocated to Durban, now require just four more points to secure promotion to the Betway Premiership for the next season under the guidance of coach Simo Dladla and his assistant, Pitso Dladla.
If City are promoted, which appears increasingly likely, it will mark the first time that Durban will have three teams competing in the Betway Premiership in a single season.
This is contingent on Golden Arrows, who have slipped into the relegation zone after failing to win their last four matches and currently sit 13th, managing to secure enough points in their remaining five games to avoid relegation.
