Vilakazi Not Carrying Away By One Point Lead

Richards Bay coach Vusi Vilakazi remained grounded despite his team leading the PSL Playoff table. He emphasized the importance of focusing on performance rather than celebrating too early.

Bay secured a point in their second match, drawing 0-0 with Baroka FC at the Global Stadium on Saturday. The challenging pitch conditions didn’t deter them from maintaining their position at the top, alongside University of Pretoria and Baroka FC.

“I wouldn’t say maybe we have done it already, by the look of things yes we are still leading but if AmaTuks beats Baroka then we are talking another language,” he stated.

“That is why I am focusing on our battle, focusing on our games, we just don’t want to lose any games.”

“Obviously, we were looking for three points, but it was not just meant to be. The conditions were not suitable for us, the pitch looks nice from far, when you are inside it’s something else,” Vilakazi remarked.

“You could see from both teams there were a lot of turnovers because the pitch is not smooth. It didn’t suit our style of play; it didn’t suit our image.”

Vilakazi concluded by expressing gratitude to the travelling fans for their unwavering support throughout the season.

“Very superb environment, they have driven all the way to come and rally behind the team, we highly appreciate them,” he said.

“Not just for now, even in the beginning of the season when I joined the team these fans were here rallying even when the team was not doing well. We owe it to them in terms of making sure that we retain the status of the club.”

The Natal Rich Boyz will now watch as Baroka hosts University of Pretoria on Wednesday.
