Williams In The Top 3 For CAF Award

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, has been shortlisted as one of the top three contenders for the CAF Player of the Year Based in Africa’s award. The full list of the finalists will be announced on Soccer Africa on Thursday.
Williams has had an exceptional year, earning nominations for the CAF Player of the Year, CAF Interclub Player of the Year, and CAF Goalkeeper of the Year awards. His outstanding performances for Sundowns and Bafana Bafana have captured international attention.
He played a pivotal role in Sundowns’ historic African Football League and Betway Premiership titles, setting a new points record under coach Rulani Mokwena. Williams was also named the PSL Footballer of the Year, becoming only the third goalkeeper to achieve this honor.
With Bafana Bafana, Williams contributed to the team’s bronze medal finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, their first in 24 years. He was recognized as the tournament’s best goalkeeper and was included in the Team of the Tournament.
Williams’ impressive form also earned him a nomination for the Yachine Trophy, awarded to the world’s best goalkeeper. Although he ultimately lost to Emiliano Martinez, he is part of the FIFA FIFPro World XI, alongside footballing steller casts like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Rodri, and Vinicius Jr.
