Durban City Sign Ex-Pirates Striker

Sportswire has learned that Durban City has signed former Orlando Pirates striker Letsie Koapeng, marking his 11th club in the PSL.
Koapeng recently parted ways with newly promoted team Orbit College, where he played in three matches and scored one goal.
He announced his departure from the North West club on social media and was quickly signed by Durban City, who were promoted from the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of last season.
A Journeyed Career
Koapeng has had a well-traveled career in the PSL, playing for a number of clubs including:
- Bidvest Wits
- Bloemfontein Celtic
- Chippa United
- Orlando Pirates
- Cape Town City
- Platinum Stars
- Cape United
- Richards Bay
- Jomo Cosmos
- Marumo Gallants
- Moroka Swallows
The 33-year-old has experienced both highs and lows during his career. He was on the Bidvest Wits team that lost the Carling Knockout to Pirates in the 2011/12 season and was also part of the Chippa United side that gained PSL promotion in the 2013/14 season.
He lost the MTN8 final with Cape Town City in the 2017/18 season, which was Benni McCarthy’s first season with the club.
Additionally, he was on the losing side in the Nedbank Cup final with both Pirates (2015/16) and Marumo Gallants (2021/22).
Throughout his various, often short-lived, stints with these teams, Koapeng has featured in 139 matches, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists.
It remains to be seen if Koapeng will be part of the Durban City squad for their home match against Siwelele at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday (19:30).
